When the New Orleans Reporter was first launched in 2012, we received widespread attention and acclaim in major American publications, including glowing write-ups in prestigious outlets like Forbes and the Wall Street Journal.
Even international journalism schools took note, highlighting the New Orleans Reporter as an example of innovative local reporting. This exposure was huge for our young publication and was instrumental in getting the word out about the new website dedicated to in-depth coverage of New Orleans news and culture.
Now, over a decade later in 2023, we are thrilled to be relaunching the New Orleans Reporter for a new era. As we prepare to bring this publication back, it’s fascinating to look back on those original 2012 press clippings and remember just how monumental that initial launch was. The glowing coverage from those early days conveyed genuine excitement about the New Orleans Reporter’s potential to fill a gap in local reporting.
As we build the new New Orleans Reporter, we aim to live up to the high expectations set by that first wave of media coverage. We will strive to produce reporting as fresh and compelling as those original articles suggested we might deliver.
While the media landscape has changed, we still believe in the core mission of the New Orleans Reporter that so impressed journalists across America when we first appeared on the scene back in 2012. We look forward to carrying on that spirit of quality local journalism.
